All currently approved or authorized COVID-19 vaccines are safe, effective, and reduce your risk of severe illness. Vaccination can reduce the spread of disease, which helps protect those who get vaccinated and the people around them.
The current COVID-19 vaccine is available for all individuals over the age of 6 months. The Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH) recommends that all Massachusetts residents ages 6 months to 23 months, select children from 2 to 18 years of age in higher risk groups, and all individuals over 19 years of age should receive the COVID-19 vaccine this fall. Review the Massachusetts DPH COVID-19 vaccine recommendations for more information.
The Massachusetts DPH has adopted the respiratory pathogen vaccine recommendations of American Academy of Family Physicians, American Academy of Pediatrics, American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and the Infectious Diseases Society of America.
People should wait at least eight weeks since their last COVID-19 dose and people who recently had COVID-19 may delay getting a COVID-19 vaccine for three months.
